The maps provide information about changes to the beachfront in Australia from 1950 to the present.
Overall, the beachfront area has become more developed, with the addition of several new facilities, while some existing features have been expanded or relocated.
In 1950, the area was relatively simple. There was a city road running along the top of the map, with a car park located on the eastern side. Near the beach, a pavilion and several dining tables were provided for visitors. A playground was situated on the western side close to the city. The beach itself was protected by 25-metre pools on both sides, and a lighthouse stood to the southeast.
At present, the beachfront has undergone noticeable changes. The city road has been extended and curved along the coastline. A new car park has been added on the western side, while the existing one remains in the east. In addition, a restaurant and a surf club have been constructed near the beach. One of the pools has been extended to 50 metres, whereas the other remains the same length. Most original features, such as the pavilion, dining tables, and lighthouse, are still in place.
