The two maps display an industrial area in the town of Norbiton, currently and a proposed plan for its transformation in the future.
At this time, the Norbiton industrial area, placed east of the town and south of the continuous river below farmland, consists mainly of numerous factories. In addition, one roundabout connects the eastern highway with a short road in the center of the industrial area, near which factories are located.
In the future, it is planned to totally change this place and reconstruct it into a residential neighborhood. According to the second map, all factories will be removed. Instead, the territory will be built up with residential buildings and urban infrastructure, such as shops at the southwest of the roundabout, a medical center at the southeast, a school at the end of the eastern small road, and a playground at the east-north. Another change, a new smaller roundabout will be constructed below the older one at the highway. In addition, a river will be divided by a new road, that will stretch from the old roundabout to residential houses, located on the former territory of the farmland. As for the agricultural fields, their area will be significantly reduced and they will be abandoned only at the west.
In conclusion, the future development of the Norbiton industrial area will result in the expansion of the town and the elimination of the non-residential part.
