The two maps display an industrial area in the town of Norbiton, currently and a proposed plan for its transformation in the future.
At this time, the Norbiton industrial area, located east of the town and south of the continuous river below farmland, consists mainly of numerous factories. In addition, one roundabout connects the eastern highway with a short road in the center of the industrial area, near which factories are located.
In the future, it is planned to completely change this place and reconstruct it into a residential neighborhood. According to the second map, all factories will be removed. Instead, the area will be built up with residential buildings and urban infrastructure, such as shops to the southwest of the roundabout, a medical center to the southeast, a school at the end of the eastern small road, and a playground to the northeast. Another change is that a new smaller roundabout will be constructed below the older one on the highway. In addition, a new road will be built, stretching from the old roundabout to residential houses located on the former farmland. As for the agricultural fields, their area will be significantly reduced and they will remain only in the west.
In conclusion, the future development of the Norbiton industrial area will result in the expansion of the town and the elimination of the non-residential part.
