The plans show how the ground floor of a particular art gallery has transformed between 2005 and the present day. Overall, the gallery has become more visitor-friendly, spacious, and more accessible, with the addition of new facilities such as a gallery shop, a lift, and a children’s area. Notably, while the three exhibition rooms have remained intact, the café, gallery office, and Exhibition Room 4 have been removed.
In 2005, the gallery had a simpler layout and fewer visitor facilities. In the centre of the building was an entrance hall, which contained a receptionist desk and was located directly below a staircase. To the left-hand side of the gallery, there was a café in the top-left corner, above a gallery office, while Exhibition Room 4 occupied the remaining space in the bottom-left section. On the right-hand side of the building were three exhibition rooms, with Exhibition Room 1 situated in the bottom-right corner, below Exhibition Room 2 and Exhibition Room 3.
By the present day, the gallery has undergone extensive transformation, with several new additions and rearrangements. The removal of the café, gallery office, and Exhibition Room 4 has made room for a gallery shop, a temporary exhibition area, and a children’s area, making the gallery more attractive and convenient for visitors. Following these changes, a vending machine was installed beneath the gallery shop. The central area has remained largely unchanged, although the receptionist desk has been enlarged and a lift has been added to the right of the staircase. The three exhibition rooms have retained their original positions on the right-hand side of the gallery. Lastly, a wheelchair ramp has been constructed outside the entrance, further improving accessibility.
