The maps compare how Meadowside village and a nearby town of Fonton have changed over the years, between 1962 and present day.
Overall, it is clear that both areas have undergone significant development, becoming more residential and modernised.
In 1962, Meadowside was a small village with a narrow road, whereas Fonton was larger and had a railway line running through it. Apart from these features, neither area contained any notable facilities.
By 1985, both areas had experienced a number of changes and expanded considerably. It is interesting to note that a road linking Meadowside with Fonton had been constructed, branching off to the Meadowside. Another striking difference is that in the village, which in 1962 contained no facilities, a leisure complex, housing estate and a superstore were built.
At present, it is seen that in addition to the previous developments, further improvements have taken place. One notable change is that Meadowside village became a part of the suburbs of Fonton. A hotel has been constructed between these two areas and to the south of that building there is now a railway station. An interesting development has been the opening of a business park, which is located just below the road that links the city and its outskirts.
