According to the 2010 map, before the improvement, the building had three primary exhibitions and a lobby with a ticket counter. To the immediate left of the lobby is the dinosaur display, whereas the ocean hall was located directly behind the lobby. Finally, the mammals showcase was found in a room behind the dinosaur display.
The second map clearly shows that an extension was built on the right side of the building, which had previously been a garden. This new area included a new shop, a cafe, along with a new display about human origins, and a relocated mammals exhibition. Meanwhile, the space previously occupied by the mammals display was replaced with a new ice age display, along with a room containing an insect showcase.
