The maps illustrate the redevelopment that is planned for Huntingdon in the future.
Overall, the town will experience significant changes, with the most notable being the rearrangement of the road system, which is expected to be more interconnected to facilitate the flow of traffic. This will be accompanied by the replacement of the current airfield by a new industrial estate in the north and the railway extension into this area.
What is immediately clear when comparing the two plans is that the town center and the nearby built-up area, where there are homes and shops, will remain mostly unchanged. The redevelopment mostly concerns the roads, with the most notable being A14 road, which currently runs from Northwest to Southeast, crossing A1 in the North and Brampton Road. This road will be relocated to the South, providing a path from the central Ring Road to A1.
The new layout also shows that the roads in the future will be connected and roundabouts will be added at new junctions, such as one between Brampton Road and the Road leading to the North of A1. Finally, the current airfield in the Northwest corner will be replaced by an industrial estate, and the railway system will be extended into this area, providing access to railway transportation.
