The pie charts demonstrate the changes in the proportion of five different fuel sources utilized for electricity production in France in 1990 and 2010.
Overall, a nuclear power was the only fuel source that showed a significant rise over the study period, while there were not pronounced changes in other sources, except for the coal, which witnessed a marked decrease.
In 1990, the percentage of the nuclear power was only 17, after 20 years this amount experienced an almost four-fold increase (67%), outsripping all other sources by a substantial margin. However, the proportion of the natural gas showed a considerable decrease from 28% to 4%, making the largest change among other sources.
Turning to the other fuel sources, their share in electricity production did not change notably, with the proportions of the coal and oil amounting to 28% and 22%, respectively, in 1990. Over the ensuing twenty years, the percentage of both sources reached the same amount, with respective proportions declining by 15% and 9%. As for the hydro power, its percentage accounted for just 2% in 2010, down from 6% in 1990, lagging behind by a significant proportions in both years.
