Overall, there are nine main steps in the process, beginning with the collection and sorting of used bottles and ending with the manufacture of new products, including clothing
In the initial stage, used plastic bottles are collected from trash bins and transported by trucks to recycling centers. In there they are sorted manually, with recyclable bottles being separated from the non-recyclable ones. After this stage has finished, the sorted bottles are then compressed into large blocks before being crushed into smaller plastic fragments.
Next, these tiny pieces are washed in order to remove any dirt and impurities. The cleaned ones are collected to produce plastic pellets, which are then heated and melted to create raw materials. These materials are subsequently made into long fibres or strips that are used in the final stage to produce a variety of new items, such as clothes, bags and numerous plastic goods
