The two pictures show the main changes which have taken place in Shipsmouth between 1995 and 2010.
Overall, the whole city has experienced a significant modernization in the last 15 years. While the entertainment and transportation facilities expanded, there was a significant decrease in green spaces during this timeframe.
One interesting change is that in 1995, there wasn’t any accommodation for residents, but apartment blocks have been built, offering a new home for a growing population. Another striking change is the old factory has been knocked down to make way for a new shopping centre. The construction of a football stadium and skyscrapers illustrate a notable change, from a quiet town to a busy city. Also, the old church has been demolished and replaced by a new pub for entertaining.
If we look at the port area, it has been pedestrianized since 2010. The southeast of the city used to be a green area, with lots of trees, but the trees have been cut down and an airport has been constructed. A final interesting development has been the introduction of a new train station in the north of the city.
