Two pie charts gives information on proportion of the capacity of five distinct energy sources in 2015 and predictions for 2040. The capacity is given in gigawatts, while data is given in percentages.
Overall, the percentage of the capacity of all energy sources is expected to decrease, except for solar and other renewable, which are expected to rise.
In 2015, the energy capacity for fossil fuel was the highest among other energy types, at 64%, but it is likely to drop to 44%. Similarly, the proportion of other renewable energy is estimated to slightly decrease from 23% to 21%. In contrast nuclear energy will drop only by 1% (from 6% to 5%).
On the other hand, 2040 is estimated to saw considerable increase in the proportion of solar power capacity, from being the lowest share at 2% to 18%. Converselly, the percentage of wind energy capacity is expected to double from 5% to 12% in 2040.
