The pie charts below show the distribution of students by gender and by the subject they are studying at a major university in 2020. The top pie chart shows distribution by gender. It can be understood that females have slightly less participation in education than males, although the difference is very small and they differ by only 4%. There can be multiple reasons behind this inequality. The exact cause varies by geographical location, culture, religion, traditions, population ratio, imbalance, etc.
The bottom two pie charts show the percentage of enrolment by subjects for male and female students separately. There is a clear indication that the percentage of students enrolled in a particular domain varies by the gender of students. Male students have a higher number of enrolments in Engineering, which is up to 40%, while, in contrast, female students have the lowest percentage of enrolment in the Engineering domain. According to the pie charts, it can be concluded that male students have very low participation in areas like education and other non-included domains. Hence, it can be inferred that male students are mostly involved in very few varieties of d omains.
Female students show different behaviour, as they seem to be participating in much more diverse domains, as 15% of them are included in other categories. Hence, it can be said that females have more evenly distributed participation than males, as more than 50% of male students are either studying Engineering or Business.
