The pie charts demonstrate the proportion of journal articles read weekly by all students, PhD students, and junior lecturers at an Australian university.
Overall, it is clear that PhD students read the maximum number of articles, while the least number of articles are read by all students. However, most junior lecturers read 6- 11 journal articles within the week.
In detail, 80% of PhD students read more than 12 articles per week, which is much higher compared to junior lecturers and all students, at 24% and 12%, respectively. In contrast, the vast majority of junior lecturers read 6–11 articles per week, while only 21% of all students and 15% of PhD students read the same number of articles.
While 67% of all students read just 1- 5 articles each week, this figure is significantly lower for PhD students, at 5%, and only 1% for junior lecturers.
