The most popular reason for both immigration and emigration is a certain job, coming in at 30% and 29% respectively. However, the reason why individuals migrated to the UK for searching for work comes in at 12%, which is a 10% difference from the local people migrating out of the UK in order to find work at 22%. Both charts share similar percentages when it comes to accompanying another person, immigration being at 15%, while emigration is at 13%.
We can see that besides the similarities, there were major differences as well. One of the key differences is that more than six times as many individuals immigrated to the UK due to their formal studies than local people migrating out to acquire formal education; both are in their respective positions at 26% and 4%.
