The diagrams illustrate the changes in the layout of a particular building through three different periods from 1958 to the present day.
Overall, the building underwent substantial changes in function, being transformed from an office into an apartment and finally into a flower shop. While the kitchen has remained unchanged throughout the period, other internal spaces have been repurposed to accommodate the building’s changing functions.
In the first period (1958 – 1984), the premises were used as an office with several rooms for different purposes. Between 1985 and 2000, the meeting room and assistant’s office on the left-hand side were merged to create a large living room, while the secretary’s office and the toilet were also merged to create a bathroom with a shower. On the opposite side, the manager’s office and reception area were replaced by two bedrooms. The main entrance remained at the bottom of the map.
From 2001 onwards, the building has been used as a flower shop. The former living room was reduced in size, making room for a gift-card and flowers display area. The bathroom was repurposed as a play area. Notably, the second bedroom was demolished to make way for a flower display area. The kitchen was the only area that has remained intact since 1958.
