The maps illustrate the layout of a university’s sports centre in the present day and the transformation that will take place after refurbishment.
Overall, the maps show the dramatic changes in the future design and shift from basic facilities to more comprehensive and modern sports centre.
Currently, the university sports centre has a 25 m pool at the middle point of the layout with a gym area to the north, a seating area to the east and one changing area to the west. Two large outdoor courts are located on the both side of the middle point. One reception area is positioned to the south entrance.
In the future, the central area of the building will remain unchanged and the same 25 m pool will be there with the previous gym, seating area and changing room facilities. But the two outdoor courts will be removed and merged with the main building. To the west of the layout an another large leisure pool, one extra changing room will be situated. Also a small sports shop will be added to the southwest part of the layout. To the east, the plan includes a sports hall, two dance studios, another changing room and a cafe. The cafe will be located next to the main entrance which will enhance the sports centre’s amenities.
