The table illustrates the total distance travelled per person per year in Netherlands using 8 diffferent modes of transport. We are able to compare the changes between 2001 and 2006, and postulate the trends between these five years.
In 2001, the least popular mode of transport was by taxi, with only 13 miles travelled by a single person per year. The most used method was bt car, with 3199 miles in average. In total, 4740 miles were spent on the road by every individual in the year 2001.
Data collected after five years in 2006 shows that taxis were still unpopular, but so were bicycles. However more than twice as many miles were taken by taxis. Cars still remained as the main means of travel, with 4806 miles, with a 1600 miles increase since half a decade before. The sum of miles per individual increased by more than 1500.
Overall, we can see that the distance travelled by vehicles has increased with time, but the popularity of the means of travel remained the same, with taxis and bicycles being used least, and cars and others means being frequently used.
