Overall, it can be seen that water in less developed countries is more expensive compared to the UK and the US. Consequently, more of a person’s daily wage goes toward buying water.
The Daily cost of water in Tanzania is 6.4 cents per person, which is less than 6 percent of the average daily wage. Uganda follows in second with 3.2 percent of every day earnings, and 4.1 cents is spent daily. Similarly, Pakistan has a high average daily percentage, with a little over 1 percent and daily expenditure of 1.76 cents.
In contrast, UK and US residents only dedicate a small fraction of their earnings to water, 0.013 and 0.006 percent, respectively. However, if we consider day to day spending, 1.3 cents for the UK is close to Pakistan. But there is a huge gap in the fractions of every day earnings spent on water.
In conclusion, payments for water in third-world countries take up a larger portion of their salaries compared to the UK and the US.
