It is clear that the underground railway system in London is the earliest one opened , the date is 1863. Also it is the longest in all of six underground railway systems, which is about 394 kilometres of route. By contrast , the new-opened railway system is in Los Angeles in the year of 2001. The underground railway system of Tokyo takes the about 1927 million passengers every year , the figure is the largest.
Kyoto has the underground railway system for only 11 kilometres of route, it’s the shortest from the table. While Lodon is about 394 kilometres long , almost 36 times than Kyoto. The reason is evident that the industrial revolution perpetuate the development of London’s transportation. Furthmore, in 1900 and 1927, Paris and Tokyo built the underground railway systems. 49 years later, Washington DC’s underground railway system is nearly 126 kilometres.But comparing to other three citys, London is the oldest and longest one because of the active economic factors.
Passengers’ figures are different. Tokyo and Paris, are the two cities which has the figures that over 1000 million in general. Relating to the tourism’s development, Tokyo’s subways take approximately 1927 million passengers per year,while 1191 million people take Paris’s underground railways every year.However, in Los Angeles, only 50 million pessengers are taken every year.
