The table illustrates the number of passengers utilizing three major German airports over the period of 5 years from 2007 to 2012.
Looking at the table from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that Frankfurt and Dusseldorf serve more airport visitors than Berlin Tegel over the period shown.
Looking at the chart in more detail, in 2007, the figure for Frankfurt was the highest (at 36.5 million) before rising significantly and reaching the peak at 69.3 million in 2012. In 2007, there was 27.2 million of people visiting Dusseldorf, taking the second place among all these airport. From 2007 to 2009, there was a remarkable increase in the number of people using this airport (from 27.2 to 48.2 million people) but in the next 2 years, this figure recorded a substantial decline to 33.2 million before bouncing back to 45.6 in 2012.
It is also interesting to note that Berlin Tegel airport started at the lowest point of 17.3 million of travellers in the first year. This airport experienced a sharp growth to approximately 40 million people in 2009 before remaining stable from 2009 onwards.
