The table compares the proportion of male and female who worked in four various kinds of industries in one particular town in the 1990, 2000, and 2010.
Overall, a large proportion of men employed in manufacturing, while considerable share of women were in tourism sector.
To begin, in 1990, 30% of men worked in manufacturing, which is almost fourfold higher than women with just 7%, this was the most common employment among males. However, by 2010, the figure of male in this industry have dropped by three times, whereas the share of female halved, reaching a low of 3%. Similarly, retailing had more male workers than female over the period. The proportion of male remained constant with 13%, while the share of women experimented a minimal increase by 1% every 10 years.
In contrast, workers in tourism were mostly women, rising from 23% in 1990 to 27% in 2010, which was the most popular profession among them, whereas the percentage of male fell from 13% to 10% in the period of 20 years. With regards to health, although the proportion of male workers grew slightly by 2%, women had a rise by 6%, reaching their maximum of 15% in 2010.
