Overall, while Congo’s oil production experienced a decline during the period, the opposite was true for other countries. It is noticeable that the figure for Chad was the lowest from 2000 to 2004.
As can be seen from the chart, in 2000, the amount of oil production in Congo was the highest, followed by Nigeria. Starting at 205,000 barrels per day, the figure for Nigeria showed a fluctuating trend and reached a peak at 213,000 in 2004. Congo’s oil production dropped steadily from 275,000 to 203,000 between 2000 and 2004. As a result, the positions of the two countries were exchanged.
Looking at the chart in more detail, it is clear that there was no oil production in Chad from 2000 to 2002; after which, its figure increased only from 2003 and reached 50,000 in the subsequent year. Somalia saw a similar trend and ended with the same amount of oil production.
