The table depicts personal savings as a percentage of personal income for seven countries across the globe in three different points of time.
Overall, the graph suggests the highest percentage was in Italy throughout the period. The lowest was in Canada after thirty years. It is also important to note that all the countries’ savings decreased, except for the UK.
From the period from 1970 and 1990 only Canada’s figures rose to 5,9% while other nations’s numbers dropped. Germany showed the same figures during this period (13,8%). Itally had the most dramatic crashes from 29,5% to 17,6% to 11,4%. Meanwhile both the USA and the UK saw a minimal decrease. Japan and France plunged with high percentages with almost the same results 6,2% and 6,4% respectively. Next decade, personal savings saw a huge decrease from 11,5% to 1,9%. France, Japan and the UK increased steadily, while others experienced slight decreases over ten years.
