In contrast, the USA recorded the highest tourism expenditures. Visitors spent 126.6 billion dollars in 2012, and this amount increased significantly to 139.6 billion in 2013. Italy had the lowest spending, at 41.2 billion in 2012, increasing slightly to around 44 billion in 2013. China’s spending rose from 50 billion in 2012 to 51.7 billion in 2013, whereas Spain and France experienced greater increases of 4.1 billion and 2.5 billion respectively.
