The table provides information about the share of lawyers in various aspects in a particular country between 2001 and 2016.
Overall, the percentages of male lawyers in all categories witnessed an upward trend, except for business and government staying constant and decreasing, when only female the workers in others saw a downward trend. Moreover, there were remarkable disparities among the figures for different sectors.
The proportions of lawyers working in private industry and business were the lowest. In terms of men, both of them were relatively equal, at roughly 15% in the first year, after which the former increased moderately to 19%, while there was a stability in the latter by 2016. To their female counterparts, although the figures for private lawyer and business were 17% and 14% respectively, the percentages reached the same level 15 years later, at 21%.
The shares of lawyers choosing jobs in government and others were significantly larger. Regarding the government, 45% of workers were male initially, with a subsequent fall to 38%, whereas the proportion of their female counterparts remained stable at around 40% during the period. Meanwhile, the figure for lawyers in the others varied from 16% to 29% throughout the survey time.
