The table depicts the changes in the percentage of lawyers (male and female) choosing their occupation in four diverse industries in a specific country from 2001 to 2016. Units are measured in percentages.
Overall, it is noticeable that both genders experienced fluctuations throughout the mentioned period. For the female category, it is visible that it mostly increased in three of the four categories, while males noticed positive patterns only in half of the categories and remained either stable or decreased in the other two categories.
As presented in the table, the private lawyer category showed a positive pattern for both males and females, with the percentage rising from 15 to 19% and 17 to 21%, respectively. Whereas, in the business section, only females showed improvement, from 14 to 21%, while the percentage for the opposite sex remained stable at 14% between 2001 and 2016.
On the other hand, the government and other categories showed exactly opposite patterns. While in the government sector males experienced a reduction from 45 to 38%, females had a 1% growth from 2001 to 2016. In the case of the “others” category, males showcased an upward movement of 3%, meanwhile, the opposite sex had a drastic fall of 12% throughout the years.
