The table shows the daily consumption of three grain foods – rice, wheat and maize – in four different countries, measured in calories per person.
Overall, people in each country prefer different grains. Cambodia eats the most rice, Egypt and Poland eat mostly wheat, and Mexico eats mostly maize. Poland has the lowest total consumption of these grains.
Rice consumption is highest in Cambodia with 1,445 calories per day. Egypt’s rice consumption is lower at 501 calories, and Poland and Mexico have very little rice in their diet, with 19 and 57 calories.
Wheat is eaten most in Egypt, with 1,095 calories, followed by Poland with 865 calories. Mexico eats less wheat, and Cambodia eats almost no wheat at only 18 calories.
Maize consumption is highest in Mexico with 1,083 calories. Egypt eats less maize, Cambodia much less, and Poland does not eat maize at all.
