The table compares the expenses of a used bookstore in Scotland in January and December 2018.
Overall, the bookstore spent considerably more money in December than in January, with total expenditure increasing from $4,758 to $6,571. Rent remained by far the largest expense in both months, while spending on equipment and maintenance accounted for the smallest proportions.
In January, the bookstore paid $3,222 for rent, which rose sharply to $4,909 by December. Other expenses also increased in several categories. Marketing costs climbed from $263 to $355, while professional fees more than doubled, rising from $51 to $132. Likewise, maintenance expenses grew significantly from just $10 to $42, and the amount spent on other items increased from $444 to $599.
By contrast, some costs declined over the year. Wages and benefits fell moderately from $260 to $226, while utility bills dropped substantially from $455 to $265. Equipment expenditure also decreased slightly, from $53 in January to $43 in December.
