Overall, it is apparent from the table that the price of coffee cup increased in most cities between 2010 and 2014, with Sydney topped the table in both years while Brisbane remained unchanged. Additionally, Melbourne had the most significant change in contrary to Canberra.
Initially, Sydney topped the table with $2.9 for a coffee cup, increased by 13.2% to $3.17 in just four years. Similarly, Melbourne saw the most significant change in the period, from $2.4 in 2010 to $2.9 in 2014, 20.8% higher than the first surveyed year. Conversely, there were no change in Brisbane in terms of coffee cup’s price, remained at $2.25 in the timeframe.
Additionally, it costed only $2.1 in 2010 for a cup in Perth, with a moderate rise of 7.1% to $2.25 over four years. Adelaide also witnessed a slight rise in its cost of 6.95%, increasing from $1.87 to $2. In contrast, Canberra had the cheapest price for a coffee cup with just under $2, at $1.5 in 2010, rising to $1.7 in 2014, meaning people only had to pay an extra $0.2 for a cup after four years.
