Overall, it is noticeable that sole parents proportion is the highest section compared to others. Furthemore, couple families with children are poorer than parents with no children. Poverty rates were considerably lower among elderly people.
To begin with, overall 1,837,000 citizens of Australia were living in a poverty. Aged people were likely to be the least poor, with the poverty level of 4% and single aged person with 6% respectively.
Just over one fifth of sole parents were living in poverty, whereas only 12% of parents living with partner were classified as a poor. The same pattern has been witnessed with couple and no children with 7%, while in single family type it was only accounted to 19%
