The table illustrates the percentage of water usage for three different sectors, namely domestic use, industry, agriculture in four nations.
Overall, it is clear that domestic use took up the lowest proportion in almost all country. Meanwhile, the percentage of water consumed by the industrial sector was the highest in New Zealand and Canada, while agricultural use accounted for the largest proportion of water consumption in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Regarding domestic use, Canada has the highest intake, at 20%, which was two time higher than that of New Zealand. Meanwhile, Egypt and Saudi Arabia used relatively little water for household purposes, at only 8% and 6% respectively.
Turning to industry, The proportion of water used for industry in Canada was the highest among the four countries, at 70%. This was followed by New Zealand and Saudi Arabica, at 46% and 30% respectively. Meanwhile, Egypt had the lowest level of industrial water consumption, at just 10%.
In terms of the agriculture sector, Egypt and Saudi Arabia consumed a significant amount of water, accounting for 82% and 64% respectively. This was followed by New Zealand, where the proportion of water used for farming was moderate, at 44%. In contrast, Canada recorded the lowest figure, at only 10% of its total water consumption devoted to agriculture.
