The image above compares the number of universities ranked within the top 200 globally across three subjects coming from the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
What is most striking when looking at the graph is the total dominance of the United States, with biology, medicine, and psychology all submerging at the top of the board. Highly contrasting to the US, New Zealand, however, accounted for the least numbers across three disciplines.
Although the US and the United Kingdom both had the highest number of top 200 universities, the earlier seemingly doubled the latter’s amount. The dominated country had an impressive 69 schools in the field of biology, 54 in medicine and 58 in psychology. On the other hand, the second highest nation included 30 institutions that have biology, 6 more than medicine and 1 more than the last subject.
About Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, they all had significantly lower numbers. For the first country in the list, the subject medicine responsible for 13, biology for 9, and psychology for 17 universities. Relatively close to Canada, having the same number of biology schools, 13 medicine universities and 14 psychology ones. Turning to the most number-humble nation, only 6 institutions have biology, while the figures for medicine and psychology are numerically modest at 2 and 4 respectively.
