Overall, total participants increased over the period. Particularly, the number of adults aged 18-39 was numerous than the figure for those aged over 40.
In terms of total participants, there were 2000 people taking part in marathon in 2008, climbing by 800 people over the 4-year period. From 2008 to 2010, this figure rose by 200 year by year. However, total participants recorded only additional 150 people in 2011, before a more dramatic rise in 2012 with 250 individuals participating in marathon.
It is clear that marathon remained more popular for adults aged 18-39. The number of adults over 40 grew gradually from 800 people in 2008 to 950 in 2011, by 50 individuals year by year, remaining below 1000 people. By 2012, the number of participants over 40 had increased to 1050 people, marking the most significant change throughout the period. Meanwhile, the figure for adults aged 18-39 rose continuously from 1200 to 1750, 700 people more than those of age group over 40.
