Overall, sales of both brands increased substantially over the ten-year period. The Galaxy product line generated higher sales than iPhone throughout all markets except for Canada where iPhone became the leading product. The three largest markets for 2022 emerged from Japan and Canada and Thailand but Ireland and New Zealand maintained their minimal market presence throughout the entire time frame.
The Canadian market showed the highest increase in iPhone sales because it grew from 6.8 million units in 2012 to 41.7 million units during 2022. The two destinations of Thailand and Japan received 29.5 million and 21.9 million international visitors during 2022. The Irish market maintained its position as the smallest iPhone market which expanded from 0.8 million to 3.4 million during this time.
The Galaxy smartphone market showed an increasing pattern which led Japan to become its leading market with 32.7 million users during 2022 while Canada and Thailand followed with 29.7 million and 24.6 million users respectively. The German population expanded dramatically because the number of people grew from 3.1 million to 18.4 million. The Galaxy revenue from Ireland remained the lowest among all regions while showing a small growth from 0.6 million to 4.1 million.
