Looking at the first picture, it is clear that the volcano is located at one end of the island, surrounded by numerous trees. It appears to be active, as smoke is shown rising from the crater. Before the eruption, the village consisted of houses and palm trees scattered across the island. It was grouped in two circular clusters on opposite sides of the island.
However, following the eruption, most of the buildings and vegetation near the volcano were destroyed, leaving behind barren land shaped by the flow of the lava. In contrast, the far side of the village was significantly less affected, with the majority of the homes and their surrounding trees remaining untouched.
