The given pie charts illustrate the total proportion of five different sources of energy in three different years (1985, 1995, 2005)
In general, renewable energy, nuclear energy and oil remained the most popular sources of energy throughout the period, despite flactuations and declines. Meanwhile, although gas and natural gas showed lowest shares, they still continued a gradual growth.
Regarding the upward trend categories, both shares of gas and natural gas grew by 2%, reaching 11% and 10% in 1995, respectively. The sector of gas accounted for 14% in the final year, while the latter increased by a mere 1%.
In a stark contrast to the growing sectors, the remaining three either declined, stayed stable or oscillated. At the beginning of the period, renewable energy stood at it’s peak figure 27%, which gradually went down, reaching 18% in 2005. Meanwhile, nuclear energy fell from 31% to 25% and plateaued. Finally, the share of oil was the one, which observed a flactuating trend, surging from 25% to 30% and returning to the initial figure of 25% by the end of the timeframe.
