The rendered bar graph depicts the data of the students aged 14 to16 learning a foreign language in an English speaking country and the top three languages studied by them from 1984 to 2007.
The graph illustrates that there is an overall decrease in the number of studies learning a foreign language with girls being more dominant than boys throughout the given time period. French was the most preferred language followed by german, and spanish.
Upon closer inspection, the number of girls studying a foreign language peaked at 49%, whereas, boys were at 30% in the year 1984. Likewise, despite a downward trend was followed in 2007, it followed a similar pattern compared to 1984 with girls being more dominant than boys. In particular, 40% of girls were involved in studying a foreign language, whereas, only 25% of the boys were indulged in this study.
In terms of the remaining chart, French was the most popular language among students, around 50% of students chose french in the year 1984, followed by german at 20%, and spanish being lowest at around 5%. In the year 2007, french and german witnessed a decrease, whereas, spanish figures saw a double growth throught the given period, from 5% to 10%.
