Overall, in the early years, the number of students learning other languages was relatively high, but due to a number of physical and mental reasons, the number of students in English-speaking countries learning other languages decreased.
In chart number 1, the number of female students studying foreign languages in 1984 was nearly 50%. But by 2007, the number of female students decreased by 40%, a decrease of nearly 10%. Like the number of female students, the number of male students in 1984 was 30%, but by 2007 it was only about 25%.
In chart 2, the top languages students in English-speaking countries study are shown. The highest is French, with 50% of students learning it, but by 2007 it was only nearly 35%. However, German has an average level of learners, in 1984 it was 20% but in 2007 it increased to nearly 35%. But, Spanish is lowest in the paragraph at nearly 5% in 1984, however, it only increased 5% is 10% in the next 23 years.
