The first chart shows the percentage of mothers with a youngest child aged three of four years old, who are in part-time and full time employement between 1997 and 2017 in England. The blu line represents the trend of mothers in part-time employement, while the red one represents the trend of mothers in full-time employement.
The number of mothers in part-time is higher than the one relating to the full-time. The blu line’s trend have been oscillating, the lower point was in 2010 when the percentage was 35%, while the higher results have been in the 2000 and in 2007 when the percentage was 40%. The final result is the same of the beginnig: the mothers in part-time is little less than 40%.
Instead, the red line’s trend shows an constant increase. The mothers in full-time were little more than 15% in 1997, while the percentage is increased up to 25% in 2017.
The second chart analizes the same information in the same period of time of the first chart, but in this case they are relating to the fathers. Every year is represented by a vertical bar where the red section is about the fathers in full-time and the blu section is about the fathers in part-time. The entire bar is about 90% every year. The blue one has had a constant increase, but it has never exceeded 10%. At the same time, the red section has had a very little decrease, but the percentage has always been higher than 80%.
