The two maps illustrate the changes in the town of Dalton from 1815 to 2015. Overall, it is evident that there are many differences between the two years, and a significant portion of the rural area has been transformed into urban space over time.
In 1815, there was a forest in Dalton that was later replaced by an industrial zone, along with the construction of several homes by 2015. Additionally, a hospital was built near the industrial zone in 2015. A bridleway that was close to the River Dal has been modified with the construction of an airport, and more homes were added near the airport during the same year.
Moreover, in 2015, the Dalton Hall hotel was established in place of the original Dalton Hall that existed in 1815. The Hall Farm was also replaced by a school. Furthermore, in 2015, a bridge was constructed over the river to connect both sides, which was not present in 1815 due to the existence of a ford.
