One of the most striking changes is the construction of the railway, which runs through the area where the Twine Toll Bridge once stood. The three fields located south of the river were cleared to make way for this extension. In addition, Lord Westley’s house was replaced by two separate buildings: the Lenton Hotel and the Red Lion.
Another major change is the transformation of Lenton Woods in the center of town into a large housing estate. Similarly, the Coach Inn, which was originally near the river, has been replaced by a sports centre and museum. The church that existed in 1815 has also been converted into a shopping centre.
Furthermore, the town’s road network has expanded, leading to areas that once contained fields but are now occupied by residential, business, and shopping districts. Along this route, additional facilities such as a cinema have also appeared.
