The pie charts above illustrates percentages of four retail sectors, namely Electronic Appliances, Clothing, Groceries, and Home and Kitchen in terms of sales via online in Canada from 2019 and 2020.
At first glance, we can clearly identify a notable change throughout the four sectors. While there are surges in the sales of Electronic Appliances as well as Groceries, the other two sectors seems to be declining.
The amount of Electronics sold in 2019 paled in comparison to the amount sold in 2020. The proportion increased from 19% all the way up to 45%. Groceries also received a similar treatment—although not as drastic—with the sales going up from 14% to 22%.
On the contrary, the other two sectors fell off, with Home and Kitchen experiencing the short end of the stick due to how went from more than a quarter of the total sales in 2019 to just 11% in 2020. There was also a decrease in the Clothing sector, which dropped from 38% in 2019 to 22% the following year.
