The pie charts show the changes in the proportion of students who chose various career and academic opportunities in a lakeside county between 2010 and 2020.
Overall, the proportion of graduates who wanted to go to college and work increased, while the reverse was true for the other three figures (starting a business, working in freelance and the informal sector, and having no idea). It is also clear that the highest percentage of students chose to go to college after high school.
In 2010, more than half of graduates preferred to go to college, with this number decreasing to 38% in 2020. Regarding students who chose to work, it saw a decline from 24% to a tenth.
By contrast, the remaining figures witnessed an increase during the period. 5 percent of graduates chose to start a business and had not planned what to do, rising to 24 and 15 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, there was a little change in working as a freelancer and in the informal sector, whereas it experienced a slight growth from 11% in 2010 to 13% in 2020.
