I am very glad to receive your letter asking about New year celebration in my country, India.

In my opinion New year is the most exciting time of the year in my country, the weather is perfect, everyone is happy, and most important of all, I get to eat all my favorite dishes. This is the most important holiday in India because the transition of year represents a new life and one more chance to do good in this world.

I am excited to tell you about how this holiday is celebrated. The preparation starts roughly a week before the actual holiday. People go out to buy presents for their loved one, friends and neighbors. The market at this time is bustling with people, decorations and so many different types of lights, this is one the most beautiful sights in this world, in my opinion. Then people go visit each other, exchanging gifts. I love doing this as this gives me a chance to meet and talk to everyone I like and love. Then on the day of the New year there is a big party where everyone dances and we get to eat all kinds of food from all around the world.

I love every aspect of this holiday from the preparation to the actual holiday itself. But, the thing I like the most is being with the people I love, this holiday makes me realize every year what actually matter, it is not all the money, the cars, the house and every materialistic thing, it actually the people who make life beautiful and exciting.
