Overall, it is conspicuous that the main distinction between the two proposed sites is that S1 is located on the outskirts of the town, whereas S2 is situated in the heart of the town. Additionally, both potential sites are in close proximity to the railway and relatively near a main road.

To commence, site S1 is located in the northwest of Garlson, near the residential housing area of Garlsdon and is directly accessed via a main road that links to a smaller town of Hindon (population 100,000). Subsequently, this can make it more accessible to residents of Hindon and Garlsdon’s suburban population. Despite this, due to the lack of transport links, it would be more difficult to reach S1 from more distant towns such as Bransdon and Cransdon.

In contrast, the second site (S2) is located in Garlsdon town centre, making it accessible to residents by rail but not by road because it’s a no-traffic zone. However, the main roads to Cransdon, Bransdon and Hindon are not too far away, meaning that local residents can easily approach the supermarket. Furthermore, the distance from S2 to Garlsdon residential housing area is similar to that of S1 to the same area.
