Dear Luis,
How are you doing? Hope the preparation for the event is going well. I am writing this letter to show my interest in the upcoming event about the celebration of popular food around the world, and why I feel my popular Nigerian dish should be included in the event.
I would like to offer my interest in making a popular dish in my country. In Nigeria, we have a variety of dishes around the world, but the one that stood out to me was Jollof rice and seasoned chicken with plantain and coleslaw. This dish in my country is the most popular, and not everyone has the skills to make it. And from my passion for cooking, I want to use this opportunity to highlight my talent and represent my country.
As I mentioned earlier in the first paragraph, the dish I will be preparing is jollof rice and seasoned chicken with plantain and coleslaw. In my family, this dish was passed on from generation to generation, and I was allowed to prepare it and was taught by my mother. Words can not describe how this dish look or taste, that why I am going to give a description on how its looks, the rice is washed properly then seasoned with many species like chicken specie, theme, curry, oil, and pepper mix (tomato, red pepper, and small red pepper) then covered for about 10- 15 minutes. On the other hand, we have the seasoned chicken marinated for about 10 minutes, then put into the oven for another 20-30 minutes, then we fry the plantain and mix vegetables like carrot, cabbage, and another fruit of your choice.
In my own opinion, not all students, between international and people who were born in this country, know about Nigeria. Given all the process of how this dish was made, I strongly recommend it be a part of the event so that I can spread awareness in the society, so that people can be enlightened about my country’s culture, beliefs, and we can interact with people. Thanks for putting my offer into consideration, and I am hoping to hear back from you soon.
Yours Faithfully
Jadesola
