Band 6+: You are taking a course at a local college. The deadline for your project was last week but you haven't finished it. Write a letter to your lecturer. In your letter • introduce yourself • explain why you haven't handed in the project yet • request more time to do it.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in regard to the deadline set for our project submission. My name is Annabel Smith, and I am a 400 level Nursing student. I am the student who assisted you in taking your bag to class on Monday last week.

On Monday after lectures, I was on my home and while in transit, the vehicle I boarded colluded with an incoming vehicle and there was an accident. Although there was no casualty, I sustained a serious injury on my wrist which rendered me incapable of holding anything. This unforeseen circumstance has caused a delay in completion of my project, and I was told by my Physician that the affected limb would require 2 weeks rest before using it for any engagements.

However, he stated that if I can engage in mild arm exercises, then there will be speedy recovery and I have decided to obey this instruction. I appeal for the deadline to be extended due to the following reasons listed above and I promise to hand in the project on the new date that will be given.
