Dear Mr Abhi,

I am writing this letter in order to let you know that I will not be able to attend your farewell party.

Today, when I skimmed through my calendar, it came to my attention that the party and my cousin’s wedding are coinciding on the same day. It is indeed an auspicious occasion for my family, and missing it would be a terrible thing. Moreover, we had planned some post weddingevents , which includes dance and songs , and I play an integral part in it .If I am not present there then they have to drop it

I know how important the farewell day is for you and I am well aware that you really want me there. I still remember my first day standing perplexed in-front of your office , and I still think how considerate you were to me . In fact, without your advice or guidelines I may not have achieved a senior position at the company.

I wish you a good retired life, and finally you can spend quality time with your family , which you always wanted. You will be forever my mentor.
