Dear John,
I’m just writing to let you know that I lost your book yesterday because of my carelessness.
I sincerely apologize for the book, and I know how important this book is to you. This volume was a limited edition and I understand it was an original copy. I’m so sorry about your book, and I’m really feeling bad about it.
Yesterday, I was travelling on a train to my office, and I was reading your publication during my entire journey. When I was getting off at my station, I forgot to take your book and I left it on the seat. I immediately contacted the transit company, but they told me they didn’t find any book on my seat.
To compensate for your loss, I’m thinking of buying you its copy from Amazon. It will be delivered to your address tomorrow. If you want, I can also buy you the next edition of your book.
Keep in touch.
Best Wishes,
Pratiksha
