The table depicts the percentage of students participating in four different types of secondary education rom 2000 to 2009.
Overall, there was a downward trend in the number of pupils’ attendance in all educational departments, except for community schools, which increased substantially. Meanwhile, voluntary-controlled schools were responsible for the highest proportion between 2000 and 2009, while specialist schools ranked last over the period.
According to the table, it is evident that the proportion of pupils’ attendance in specialist schools was twice than that of grammar schools, which were 12% and 24%, respectively, in 2000 and they both experienced a minimal drop in five years. Furthermore, the former only dropped by precisely 1% to 11%, while the latter declined slightly to reach 19% after half a decade. Nonetheless, in the final year, the total number of learners attending specialist schools was almost the same proportion as that of grammar, which differed by a margin of 2%.
On the other hand, voluntary-controlled schools were observed as the most participating pupils by 52% in 2000, while community schools accounted for only 12% of total pupils’ presence. Additionally, in a half decade, the former experienced a substantial drop to 38%, whereas the latter rose significantly to 32%. Eventually, students’ presence in voluntary-controlled schools attributed more proportion than that of community schools’ students by a margin of 38% in the last observed year.
